About the event
Jacqui Naylor is an internationally acclaimed vocalist, composer, and recording artist, known for her deeply rich, soulful voice and signature mix of jazz standards, covers, and original music. The singer attributes her unique sound to the tight and spontaneous interplay with long-time bandmates, including pianist, arranger, and co-writer Art Khu, bassist Geoff Brennan, and drummer Ele Howell. What Naylor and her band create on stage together is both sensitive and explosive. She releases her twelfth album in 2024.
At her holiday concerts, Naylor highlights seasonal favorites with romantic standards, lovingly written originals, and thoughtfully arranged “acoustic smashes” from her celebrated Smashed for the Holidays recording. The artist and album gained notoriety with her arranging technique where she sings the melody of a jazz standard over the groove of a well-known rock anthem or vice versa. “Naylor has the chops and sensitivity to pull it off,” writes New York Magazine. “‘Smashed for the Holidays’ makes our Top Holiday Albums,” writes USA Today.
Naylor’s music has been featured in ad campaigns, television shows, and films, including a documentary made about her, called Lucky Girl. Her self-penned “Celebrate Early and Often” was named one of the best new wedding songs by Martha Stewart Weddings and the song remains a requested favorite at Naylor’s shows. Her Bossa Nova-inspired cover of REM’s “Losing My Religion” has over four million listens on Spotify and was featured in the hit TV reality show So You Think You Can Dance.
Jacqui Naylor tours regularly in the United States, Europe, and Asia, headlining at such famed venues and festivals as Ronnie Scott’s London, Quasimodo Berlin, Birdland New York and Hamburg, Joe’s Pub New York, Café Carlyle New York, SFJAZZ Center, Jazz Alley Seattle, Mountain Winery Saratoga, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, Monterey Jazz Festival, and Blue Note Jazz Clubs Worldwide in New York, Tokyo, and Milan. Naylor has also developed a subscription livestream concert series called home2home.
